New lab deployed in Mankosi, South Africa

In March 2021, a new lab was deployed in Mankosi, a village in Eastern Cape, South Africa. Our local partners for this project are Zenzeleni Community Networks, which set up the first community-owned internet service provider. They developed the service with the University of Western Cape to provide rural communities with an affordable and reliable service. Rural communities are often overlooked by larger internet service providers, who charge much higher rates than this community initiative. We think they’ll be a wonderful partner to work with for this new Solar Learning Lab.

The lab will provide 11 workstations, 10 dedicated student workstations plus one for the teacher and members of the community will be given digital training through ICDL.
